Silent Yangon is an editorial photography book developed from a project carried out in Myanmar
by the photographer Francesca Moscheni together with Pamela McCourt Francescone
sponsored by Samsung.
The project involved a class of deaf and mute students from a school in Yangon who,
provided with smartphones and guided by the photographer, explored the city while documenting
their everyday lives and the surrounding urban environment.
All the photographs featured in the book were taken exclusively using mobile phones, offering a direct,
intimate, and authentic view of the city through the students’ own perspective.
I was responsible for the art direction and layout of the book. Working on the sequencing of the images,
I contributed to shaping a clear visual narrative that guides the reader through the story
and creates an immersive and coherent reading experience.
The order of the photographs and the rhythm of the layout were carefully designed to enhance the narrative strength of the images and highlight the unique point of view of the young photographers.
